Peter Eicens, recently retired from the Queensland Police Force, served for 34 years, including assignments in Cairns and Smithfield and 15 years at a single officer station in Western Queensland. His parents, originally from Latvia, came to Australia as displaced persons during World War II. Peter has been married for 36 years and has two sons.

With strong family values and a rich history of professional and personal experiences, Peter is known for his approachable, down-to-earth nature and common-sense approach to life’s issues, aligning well with One Nation's policies.

Peter is contesting the seat of Barron River due to the rise in crime and lawlessness in Queensland, coupled with high living costs and inadequate government response. He believes the two major parties have lost touch with real issues once elected, and One Nation offers the common-sense policies the community needs.

Reflecting on Queensland's past achievements, Peter highlights the construction of significant infrastructure like Lake Morris, Copperlode Dam, and the Kuranda Rail. He criticizes the current government's failure to provide adequate infrastructure, such as the two-lane flood-prone Smithfield bypass, and the ongoing debate over an alternative road to Kuranda. Peter advocates for the necessary infrastructure to support Queenslanders, emphasising the need for grassroots values and proper representation for Barron River.

Peter calls for a return to sensible governance, pointing out that taxes were originally meant to fund essential services like roads, hospitals, and police. He questions where tax money is going when these needs are not being met. Peter supports One Nation's policies for affordable, reliable, and stable energy, promoting coal resources and the construction of High Efficiency, Low Emission (HELE) stations, with a future transition to nuclear power.

Peter believes that One Nation has the determination and passion to prioritize Australia and Queenslanders, urging voters to make 2024 a year of change, returning Queensland to its former greatness and avoiding the detrimental cycle of current governance.

I’m passionate about Barron River and I’ve dedicated my career to delivering for our community.
