Mr Newman, 54, will stand in the seat of Cessnock and be joined by party stalwart, coal miner and farmer Stuart Bonds as One Nation's lead candidate for the Legislative Council.

One Nation leader Senator Pauline Hanson said Mr Newman had the experience needed to get NSW back on track as a business and economic powerhouse.

"Mike is another great addition to the One Nation team," Senator Hanson said. "He has more than three decades' experience in financial services across a range of industries including the defence, automotive and aerospace sectors in Australia, Japan, Korea and the United Kingdom.

"He has also served as the NSW Senior Trade and Investment Commissioner for North Asia."
