Andrew Jackson was raised and educated in Queensland, attending Mt Chalmers for early education, Park Avenue for primary school, and graduating from North Rockhampton State High in 1981. His journey has taken him through various towns, including Rockhampton, Mackay, Ipswich, Amberley, Blackwater, Middlemount, and Glenden. Most recently, Andrew and his family have settled in the Boyne Island/Gladstone regions.

In 1982, Andrew contributed to the construction of the road now known as Toolooa Bends, working with Main Roads to transform swampy ground into the safer, straighter Gladstone-Benaraby Road. After moving to Gladstone temporarily in 2017 for family reasons, Andrew and his wife have grown to love this community. Their children, along with their partners and nine grandchildren, now also reside in Gladstone, with all actively employed and the grandchildren thriving in the local school system.

Andrew's career in the coal industry began in 1987, working in underground coal mines and advancing to various management positions. Andrew appreciates being in Gladstone to witness firsthand how coal supports the community, providing essential energy for the power station and smelter. Many miners in the region enjoy the benefits of DIDO work and the beautiful coastline on their days off.

As an active member of the Port City Christian Church in Gladstone, Andrew leads a Men’s Group, offering a valuable space for community interaction and support. His commitment to the region and its people reflects both his professional background and personal life, dedicated to sustaining and enhancing the community.

I have a realistic and sustainable vision for our area where we benefit from the wealth of Queensland's raw materials. Let's see Gladstone thrive.
